uMsinga Municipal Integrated Development 2024/2025 Review

THE MAYOR’S FOREWORD AND EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

2024-2025 financial year is upon us and marks the third review of our 5-year IDP as originally adopted by Council in 2021in compliance with Section 25 of the Municipal Systems Act of 2000.

uMsinga Municipal community has grown over the past 11 years with 14% as reported by Stats SA. With a population of 206 001 people,
uMsinga has beautiful landscapes and a rich cultural society, and is one of the four local Municipalities under the uMzinyathi district
municipality in KwaZulu-Natal. All initiatives within this municipality are guided and aligned to the National, Provincial and District plans and strategies.

In 2017 uMsinga Municipal Council reviewed and adopted its Vision which is aligned to the NDP 2030. The National Development
Plan seeks to reduce poverty by 2030, and we believe this may be achieved by drawing on the energies of our people, growing an
inclusive economy, building capabilities, and promoting leadership and partnership throughout society.
